Apples, Almonds and Asparagus Medical Uses

The health food and diet industry has everyone believing that their over the count drugs may help in weight loss, nerviness, and other stomach problems. But what they are not telling you is what they are made of. What are the long-term effects on your body? They are expensive and can be habit-forming. You will start relaying on these over-the-counter drugs which may or may not lead to serious health problems later. You are being lead blindly by these advertisements not knowing what the properties and effects will be. Fruits are cheaper and more enjoyable. Each time a new advertisement appeared in the newspapers or on the radio Grandma would sit and laugh knowing they would only harm her health not doing any good for her body. She would warn my Mother about buying all these drugs the industry is now producing and to keep her diet healthy with many fresh fruits and vegetables then she would never be sick needing these pills.

Almond and their uses:

Almond soup is an excellent substitute for beef-tea for convalescents. It is not hard to prepare. Blanch and pound a quarter of a pound of sweet almonds with half a pint of milk or vegetable stock. It is necessary to blanch your almonds first. The process takes little time. Boil water and pour over the sweet almonds and allow soaking for one minute. The skins easily removed after the blanching process. Once the almonds are blanched; pound a quarter of a pound of sweet almonds with one pint of milk or vegetable stock. The pounding process is important to get the pulp from the almonds. Add another pint of milk or stock to your pounded almonds. If you are making vegetable soups add one and half-pints of stock to your mixture. The stock used when making vegetable soup. If milk used for pounding your almonds; do not add stock but instead add one and half-pints of rice water.

If you are suffering from chest colds or infections use almonds to help break up the congestion in your chest. You need a nut butter machine.  Well macerate the nuts turning them into pulp or nut butter which is a creamy nutty substance. Mix this substance with orange and lemon juice and drink three times a day.

Never use bitter almonds in food. They contain poisons identical with prussic acid. When cooking always use sweet almonds. When almonds are in season it is possible to shell these and put them in sealed containers in your freezer. Almonds frozen can last a longtime and used in preparing many foods. Almond butter is better than butter on your bread for all meals.

Apples and their uses:

Apples contain a larger percentage of phosphorus than any other fruit or vegetable. Apples are an invaluable source of phosphorus for nerves and brain food. Apples should be eaten at the beginning of each meal when suffering from nerves. When eating apples avoid drinking teas and coffee; drink instead barley water, bran tea each flavored with lemon juice. You may even make an apple tea which needs no flavoring added from lemon juice.

Grandma loved to prepare applesauce. Grandma served with roast pork; ham, pork should roasts, and roasted goose. She would serve us applesauce during the day instead of cookies, candies, and cakes. Apple should be eaten for people who suffer from liver problems. When apples are eaten without added sugar reduces acidity in the stomach. Apples contain certain vegetable salts that convert into alkaline carbonates. When eaten whole corrects the acidity in your stomach.

When my Mother was growing up she told me stories of how her Mom put apples on her eyes. She said that she always had bad eyes and Grandma used apples on her eyes. During the summer months on the ranch my Mother would suffer from weak and inflamed eyes. The apple poultice prepared by Grandma and put on my Mothers eyes to take out swelling and help her weak eyes.

When suffering from a sore throat take a raw apple and scrape it to a fine pulp with a teaspoon. Eat the pulp by the spoon full slowly holding it against the back of your throat. Try to hold it as long as possible before allowing it to be swallowed.  If a fever is present drink some apple water or apple tea.

At times Grandma would see us not eating at mealtime. She would serve apples before dinner. This was the fresh fruit on the table. Later I found out why she explained that apples posses tonic properties and provoke appetite for food.

Grandma and Mom loved their apple tea. It takes a little time to prepare but you can make a larger batch if needed. First take 2 sound apples, wash, but do not peel, and cut into thin slices. Add some strips of lemon rind. Pour one pint of distilled boiling water on top, and when cold strain. Second bake 2 apples and pour over-the-top 1 pint of boiling water. Allow to soak until cold and then strain.

Asparagus and their uses:

Asparagus may strengthen and develop the artistic faculties. When suffering from heart palpitation eat asparagus. If you suffer from rheumatic asparagus contains the salts and potash to relieve your symptoms. Only steam asparagus never boil, otherwise parts of the valuable salts are lost

Please share this information with anyone you know who suffer from liver problem, chest colds, nerves, sore throats, fever, weak eyes, and inflamed eyes. The simple affect of almonds and apples are amazing. They are a natural healer, easy to prepare, and so good for you. If you think to buy some drugs over-the-counter head to your local store and buy instead apples and almonds.

I am not saying this is for everyone. But growing up I saw my Mother and Grandmother use almonds and apples for cooking, drinking, and eating. They never suffered from liver problems, fevers, and nerves.

Very informative, Sarah … For the apple tea – when you prepare the one with fresh uncooked apples and the baked apples – do you combine them or is this two different types of apple tea? Blessings ~~

Hi Decca Givens they are two different types. You make one with Fresh Apples and the other one is made with Baked Apples. I hope this has answered your question. Thank you so much if you have any other questions please feel free to ask them and I will be more than happy to answer all of them.
